When She first followed me home...

The work begins with the interior
My '71 Dodge Dart has been a labor of love over the past few years. When I got it, it was all stock (original paint, interior, engine, etc).. Now, it's got a new engine, transmission, rear end, suspension, brakes, dash, interior and more. I'm repainting it the original color (GY3 Citron Yella/Curious Yellow), which is not a common color to find on t he Darts. It's a color that was only available in 1971, and out of the 100,000+ Darts made in '71, only 1% of them were painted this color. My goal is to have it completed for Hot August Nights '07.

The engine
The original engine was a 2 barrel 318, which I replaced with a new 360. I put a new CompCam XE268 kit in it, along with an Edelbrock Performer manifold and carburetor, headers, and MSD ignition.

Exterior work
So far, I've stripped, straightened and primed the roof, quarterpanels and decklid. I've also stripped the fenders. I've done some jambing as well (door jambs, trunk, fenders, cowl, decklid). So far - all original paint! The metal is surprisingly rust-free, and pretty straight too (just a couple small dents here and there).

Doing the Jambs
The drivers' side door striker had rusted out, and a previous owner did a hack job trying to weld it up. So with the help of a friend, I replaced it with a striker from a donor car. Also stripped and painted the entire trunk.
